Understanding Your Results
Your ideal weight range is calculated using several scientifically-validated formulas, each with different strengths:
- BMI Method: Based on a healthy BMI range of 18.5-24.9, which is associated with lower health risks.
- Devine Formula: Originally created for medication dosing but widely used for ideal weight estimation.
- Modified Formulas: Hamwi, Robinson, and Miller formulas offer additional perspectives based on different body compositions.
Your body frame size affects where in this range you might fall, with smaller frames typically in the lower end and larger frames in the higher end.
Note: Body frame adjustments have been applied to your recommended range based on your selected frame size or wrist measurements.
Healthy Weight Tips
Stay Hydrated
Drinking water before meals can help control appetite and support metabolism.
Balanced Nutrition
Focus on whole foods with a balance of proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates.
Regular Exercise
Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week plus strength training.
Quality Sleep
7-9 hours of sleep supports hormone balance and weight management.
Remember that ideal weight calculations are estimates and may not account for all individual factors like muscle mass, bone density, and body composition. These results should be used as general guidance rather than strict targets.
How We Calculate Your Ideal Weight
1. Multiple Formula Approach
We use several established formulas to provide a comprehensive view of your ideal weight:
Devine Formula:
Men: 50 kg + 2.3 kg per inch over 5 feet
Women: 45.5 kg + 2.3 kg per inch over 5 feet
Men: 48 kg + 2.7 kg per inch over 5 feet
Women: 45.5 kg + 2.2 kg per inch over 5 feet
2. Body Frame Adjustments
We adjust ideal weight based on frame size:
Medium Frame: Use base calculation
Large Frame: Add 10% to base calculation
If wrist measurements are provided, we can determine frame size more accurately:
Small Frame: Wrist size < 17.5 cm (Men) or < 16 cm (Women)
Large Frame: Wrist size > 19.5 cm (Men) or > 17.5 cm (Women)
3. Age Considerations
For adults over 50, we apply a slight adjustment to account for natural body composition changes with age:
Age 60-70: +2-3% adjustment
Age 70+: +3-4% adjustment
This accounts for natural shifts in muscle mass and body composition that occur with aging.
